Tai O Light Study

This series of light study was kick started by a site trip to an traditional fishing village at Tai O. This area is mostly built on the waterfront and has along the years expanded on top of the sea. Luckily the unique stilt houses has kept attracting people and students till today.

The site visit itself contained collection of all the possible data and producing detailed drawings. Off site, the study continued around an interesting spatial quality and understanding the factors behind it.

My personal focus was the lighting qualities underneath a stilt house. This space is affected by both the change in tide level and sun movements. In the research the aim was to understand the reasons and results of the observed qualities, along the side of testing and exploring the limits, in which the natural light and water can be controlled and used in a design.
